Troop 7 Introduction
Troop 7 was formed and first chartered by the Christian
Fellowship Ministries, Inc. in 1982. We meet weekly
on Tuesday nights at St. James United Methodist Church at
the corner of Fair and Pearl Streets in Kingston, NY.
The troop is very focused on developing leadership skills in our
youth membership by following BSA's emphasis on youth run
troops. Nearly all aspect of troop operations are
planned and directed by youth leaders.
Along with our weekly troop meeting, the troop plans
regular outdoor activities.
- Regular council and troop camping and hiking
weekends
- Rip Van Winkle Council Scout Show
- A week long residence summer camp at the council
owned camp
- Annual Saranac leader's invitational canoe trip
- Heritage trips approximately every two years to
historic and educational (and FUN!) sites such as the
cities of Philadelphia, Boston, New York City,
Washington DC
- Philmont Scout Reservation treks in Cimarron New
Mexico
Troop 7 takes great pride in the success rate of our
scouts in making Boy Scout's ultimate rank, Eagle.
Please visit the
Troop 7 Eagle
Honor Roll to see those of our membership who have
attained this esteemed rank.
Troop 7 is a full uniformed troop. With a few
noted exceptions, scouts in our troop are expected to show
their scout spirit and support for scouting ideals by
presenting themselves in a full scout uniform. Troop 7
maintains a short
reference guide which details the unit's expectations of
members and a
troop handbook
which describes details about Troop 7 and BSA.
